Speaking & Advocacy

Honest stories can help people feel seen, start conversations and find support.

I share my breast cancer experience in two ways: in paid corporate wellness talks for organisations, and as a volunteer survivor speaker with the Breast Cancer Foundation. In each talk, I share the lessons I have drawn from facing uncertainty, receiving support and moving forward. My aim is to make room for candid conversation, without suggesting that everyone’s experience follows the same path.

Ways I speak

  • Corporate wellness talks

Paid talks for organisations’ employee wellness programmes and workplace events, arranged directly with me.

  • Volunteering with the Breast Cancer Foundation

Through the Breast Cancer Foundation, I have shared my story as a volunteer survivor speaker with audiences in workplace and community settings.

Topics I can speak about

  • Living through a cancer diagnosis and recovery
  • Resilience when plans change
  • The role of family, friends and workplace support
  • Listening to experiences that may be hard to talk about

From recent talks

Moments from recent survivor talks.

  • Gladys speaking into a microphone beside a screen titled “Breast Cancer Survivor Story”
  • Gladys presenting her “My Story” timeline, from discovery in 2019 to treatment in 2020 and 2021, to a seated audience
  • A room of around twenty colleagues listening as Gladys presents at the front
  • Gladys, in pink, talking with attendees at a meeting table in front of her story timeline
  • Attendees around a long table at the end of a talk, with “Thank you” slides on the screens

An invitation

I welcome enquiries about corporate wellness talks, survivor storytelling and community conversations. We can discuss the audience, format and whether a talk is best arranged directly with me as a paid engagement or through the Breast Cancer Foundation.
